"Wake County Board of Education member Keith Sutton said that he wants to drop a proposal to cut extra-duty pay that has been considered as a cost-cutting measure.
Sutton, who is chairman of the school board's finance committee, said he will ask the committee to drop the proposal at a meeting Wednesday afternoon.
The committee has considered cutting extra-duty pay, including that of coaches, by 30 percent for the 2010-11 school year. That would reduce the salary for a football coach with five to eight years of experience by $1,162.80."
